Experiencing Interruptions?

E-Bike City 3D Animation

Imagine a world where everyone can enjoy a fulfilling life within a healthy and breathtaking environment. Now, picture yourself effortlessly reaching all the places that truly matter with fast, convenient, and secure transportation. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, the truth is, our ever-growing urban landscape is struggling to accommodate the increasing motorized traffic. And let's not forget the urgent need to tackle the climate crisis head-on. If we are to achieve our emissions goals by 2040, a significant overhaul of our transport systems is vital within the next 5-10 years. Simply relying on electric and autonomous vehicles won't cut it. We need a more comprehensive solution.

Enter E-Bike City! This innovative project, led by the minds at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) at ETH Zurich, aims to shed light on the future of urban mobility. With the combined efforts of ten principal investigators, along with their dedicated team of post-docs, PhDs, and ETH students, E-Bike City research has successfully modeled the transformative effects of reclaiming street space in Zurich and beyond.

You see, the streets don't just belong to cars; they belong to people. E-Bike City is an initiative that revolutionizes our urban landscape by removing parked cars, slowing down vehicle traffic, and carving out safe spaces for more and more people to embrace bicycles, micromobility, and public transport as their preferred modes of travel. Picture Zurich covered in Copenhagen-style bike lanes, with efficient public transport and lush green spaces. By reallocating street space and giving absolute priority to sustainable alternatives, E-Bike City is on a mission to create a dynamic, accessible, and eco-friendly urban living environment. Utilizing advanced scientific modeling techniques, we have reimagined our cities and can now forge the path towards a transportation revolution. Together, we can make urban mobility greener, safer, and more engaging than ever before!
