Dust Nuggets

In this complex and intellectually provocative film, KK Colson is the band manager of the wildly successful Dust Nuggets band. Currently she's in a coma from a drug overdose and reliving her band's rise to fame as she struggles with the choice of whether to live or die. The film is comical at times with scenes that anyone who’s ever been in a band will identify with. At heart, though, the story is a drama, portraying KK as she faces the truth of her complicity in her lover’s death. With two story lines running concurrently along with a roadmap written in rhyme, the film has been described as David Lynch meets Dr. Seuss. Cast includes Eric Roberts (Inherent Vice, Dark Knight) and Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager, The Wonder Years, China Beach).

Dust Nuggets isn’t a film about the mind, it is the mind. Everything we touch, sense or feel is from our mind, this movie universe is no different. Buddhist teaching states we humans are the cause of all our own suffering, which is certainly the case for our main character, KK Colson. The course set into motion by KK's chasing after fame, her ambition, her envy of others, comes at a deadly price. As KK and her band, Dust Nuggets, climb up to the top of the Fame Ladder, the audience discovers hidden motives that KK may not even understand. Dust Nuggets not only asks questions about blind ambition and the pursuit of fame, but the blossoming of new love and the struggle for psychological survival.
