Born and bred in the Pacific Northwest, I was introduced to books and films at an early age. I would see my mother's bookshelves filled to the brim with various authors, and it didn't take long to figure out that my mother's favorite author was Stephen King. Around the age of 8 or 9, I began to dig in to these gigantic novels, while catching a lot of the film adaptations along the way. This was my introduction to the horror genre, and it's my been my true love ever since. While most of my fellow students in high school Video Production class produced skateboarding videos, I took it as an opportunity to make my first film and tell the story that I wanted, but more importantly, needed, to tell. After my first film, which revolved around teenage suicide, achieved some success, I was obsessed. In community college I honed my craft by making several horror films and dark dramas, and I realized a constant in my work: darkness. I can't explain what draws me to the darker side of the moon stories, but I can confirm it's existence. After college came film school, a bittersweet experience. I learned how to work with a real size crew, and how to work in different positions on a film. I learned film vocabulary, theory, thematics, storytelling, and how to find your own true style and voice, and embrace it. After film school I worked as a P.A. on several productions in Los Angeles such as "Frank TV" and "War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave", produced by the infamous company behind the "Sharknado" films. I soaked up experience by doing background work on several TV shows and films, and watching how a big budget production is run. After living for two years in Hollywood, I realized that as much as I loved being on set in various roles and responsibilities, I wanted...needed to tell my own stories. I wrote several feature length scripts, one of which came to fruition, titled "Dusk to Dusk". This grueling experience taught me so much, specifically how to get the best performances out of your actors, and how to communicate what you want to see accomplished. My crew sizes ranged from a dozen crew members to as low as two, or even one, depending on the needs of the scene and everyone's schedules. I was unable to pay my cast or crew, and I had to find a way to make it happen, with people who believed in the project itself, and saw it as more than a paycheck.
