Duque

As a little girl, Amanda Duque is ripped from her home and her country after her grandfather, the Spanish Prime Minister is assassinated in a horrific explosion. Her immediate family finds solace in seclusion in a small Texas town.

For the next ten years, Amanda is home-schooled and learns baseball through her uncle, who lives with them. Coming up on her sixteenth birthday, Amanda demands that she be allowed to go to public school. Finally relenting, her father allows her to attend school. Once there, Amanda decides to go further and try out for the boy's baseball team, much to the dismay of Head Coach Tommy Walters. After being humiliated on the field, Amanda runs away, but Coach Walters is not only impressed, he now sees Amanda as a key to their championship run.

The roles reverse and Coach Walters now chases after Amanda to join the team. In an effort to persuade her, Coach Walters takes Amanda to the big city, San Antonio, and introduces her to the most famous pitcher to ever live in the 20th Century, Jackie Mitchell, who as a teenager, struck out both Lou Gerhig and Babe Ruth back-to-back. The only person, male or female to ever do so.

Amanda rejoins the team and after battling her team for acceptance, leads them to the championship.
