After a decade and a half as a single parent, struggling to make ends meet working in hospitality Gemma took a huge leap and started a film production degree. After three years of juggling parenting, work and study Drowning is Gemma's graduation film. Growing up in a working class home, in a South Yorkshire pit village, she was always told that film isn't a real career - but maybe, now she's 40, it might be.
