A Drop of Life

The film focuses on the current problems of water crisis and is based on a small water treatment plant situated in Kalikapur slum area, which provides pure drinking water to the underprivileged slum dwellers of the area. It raises concerns regarding modern problems of water depletion and energy crisis that the future generation is most likely to be affected with. The water treatment plant mentioned in this film, uses renewable energy i.e. solar energy as its main source of power, since electricity is also becoming a challenge in our current situations. The whole idea of the plant is the brainchild of an NGO named SAFE. Experts and other concerned individuals shows their personal level of concerns regarding ground water depletion, water pollution, contamination of arsenic and fluoride as well as an excessive overuse of water. Every individual urges for a better solution to mitigate the issues related to water as a drinking source for the poor slum dwellers, which are also reflected in their interviews. it is also shown in the film that water scarcity is not only a problem of the slum dwellers, gradually it is also paving its way to the elite classes of society, affecting them with poor water quality and multiple water related diseases. Our pledge to the new generation is to think of more such innovative and environment friendly ideas to make the world a better place to live.
