Shawn Cortel, left his midwest roots to attend college at, Pepperdine University, where he graduated with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. He has performed on stage and screen from NYC to California and has a strong love for self expression through all artistic mediums. This is his directorial debut.
I wrote this in 2014 while living in NY at the time of the protests, demonstrations, killings, and turmoil surrounding the state of African Americans and the way we are viewed. I was compelled to be involved in the movement, Black Lives Matter, but knew it best I involve myself differently. My goal is to reach a broader and non-expecting audience with an underlining theme that doesn't beat you over the head. This is the outcome.
