Driving La Carrera: Rally Brothers
The world’s greatest auto races fuel every driver’s passion for competition and adventure. But one race offers something more. La Carrera Panamericana unites competitors unlike any other race. This unity is the Spirit of La Carrera. This Spirit gave birth to the documentary “Driving La Carrera: Rally Brothers.” Two brothers, Chris and Jeff Mason, find out that racing in the Carrera Panamericana is more than just winning; it is the magic that happens when people come together in the spirit of generosity. An inspiring story about a race that unites countries, cultures, and people. No one makes it to the finish line alone.

Fernando Cum (Guatemala, 1988). Based in México City, Fer Cum has worked as a professional cinematographer and film director for six years. As cinematographer/director Fer has worked on indie films, TV series, music videos, and commercials. These projects have allowed him to live and work in Paraguay, Perú, Guatemala, and Spain. Some of his most memorable jobs as a filmmaker are La Mujer del Toro, presented in Cannes Short Film Corner in 2016, being a member of the selection committee in Central Doc, and recently as director of Driving la Carrera: Rally Brothers. Since 2018, Fer has been teaching filmmaking to local communities in Mexico City.
“When the executive producer of Driving la Carrera: Rally Brothers, Julián Castillo, asked me to join this project, I immediately got engaged with it. I wasn’t previously a motorsports fan, but the opportunity to tell the human aspect of racing, how two brothers put everything into a race, that's what hooked me,” Fer said. “This led me to ask the big question that drives our film, “what is your carrera? What is your race? What big, crazy thing do you want to do? I hope everyone who sees this film will consider this question and feel the emotion of Chris and Jeff, the rally brothers, as they race the Carrera Panamericana.”
“After several years of directing music videos, I was happy to tackle a bigger project. It’s an inspiring film. Through this project, we traveled through many places in México, met beautiful people, and filmed many race cars. I’m becoming a little more of a car-person now, so I think that’s my reward for making Driving la Carrera: Rally Brothers.
