Douglas Alves Ferreira started as comicbook artist in his adolescence, and also as assistant animator for Disney Television ,on TV series such as “Alladin”, ”New Bonkers” and “Goofy Troop”.
Works as animator ,storyboarder,lay-out artist, and illustrator.
As a filmmaker,he just did the short films Dreams,The Scape and The boy who could fly.Animated for many films,including Asterix and the Vikings, Rio 2096,a history of love and hate,and the Spanish film Chico and Rita ,Oscar nominee in 2012.
Lived in Lisbon, where he worked for the Neuroplanet Group on the french feature film The Little Hippo,and the series My animated family, for the Portuguese television.
Teachs Filmmaking and arts in specialized courses.
Received many awards,like Best Animated Short film for THE VAMPIRE, Best International Anime Short at Texas Ultimate Shorts,Bronze Remi Award at Worldfest Houston international film festival for THE SCAPE,and best film in the Grand Prix of Brazilian Academy of filmmaking, Best Short film in the 11º FIESP prize of cinema, 8º Anima Serra among others,for The boy who could fly.
"Dreams" is literally a dream movie to me. For many years I always wanted to do stopmotion and experimental animation, and also use classical poetry and adapt it into my own style, at the same time remaining loyal to the original.
