Dreamcatcher

"I must not dream." The child has to write these words 100 times in his exercise book after being admonished for sleeping in class. The child obeys and resolves never to dream again. But with this decision, his fantasy world with its dream characters begins to crumble.

Background:
The idea for the film project arose within the framework of the seminar "Dream Protocols" at the University of Hildesheim. For one semester, students researched psychological theories of dream interpretation and literary treatments of different art epochs. Our animated film is based on written down dreams of the author, whose images combine to a surreal story about the loss of imagination through the eyes of a child. As an inter-university project in collaboration with students from the Münster School of Design and the Filmuni Babelsberg, this resulted in a four-minute animated film.
