Philip Pfeiffer was adopted from South Korea and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, arriving to the United Kingdom in 2017. He graduated from the MetFilm School with distinction, studying an MA in Directing.
Philip's main interest within film is using the medium to explore the human psyche, particularly in relation to emotional vulnerability and how individuals process trauma.
The story of Dramatherapy began when Philip met a dramatherapist in London. Fascinated by this progressive, forward-thinking school of treatment, he began to research how performing arts are being used within the field of psychotherapy.
By engaging with psychological trauma through performance, certain patients are able to connect with deeply repressed trauma. Dramatherapy explores the mind of an individual suffering from grief, whose only way to heal lies in stepping outside the tight comfort zone that is keeping him from embracing his emotions. At first, he approaches the workshop with cynicism, but by engaging sincerely with the class and the people around him, he is able to put himself on a path to catharsis.
