Director Statement

I stumbled into filmmaking in 2017 after a photographic expedition to Mongolia. I have been telling stories with still pictures since I was very young and have admired documentaries by Warner Herzog, Ken Burns, Chris Jordan, and many others. So, with no formal film training, I am stumbling along and learning as I go. "Mongolia in Winter" was my first effort and now "Dr. Doc" is my second. I am also working on a much larger project about a geophysicist who spent almost a year and a half on an expedition. to Antarctica in 1957-8 and the beautiful love story between him and his wife who raised their 3 very young children while he was gone. They wrote back and forth frequently and these letters are the basis for the story along with hundreds of color and black and white photographs, several hours of interview time, and research. With these films, my intent is to document the lives and experiences of people and their unique life experiences.
