The filmmaker and author Maren Link-Nennmann, with German, Turkish and French roots, was born in June of 1994 in Germany.
At the age of 22 she moved to the city of Witten near Cologne. After four years of studying at the Ruhrakademie in Schwerte, a German university of liberal arts, she achieved her film directing diploma.
During her fifth semester she shot the film for her diploma's preliminary examination, "Do you see me?" (original: "Siehst Du Mich?").
"Do you see me?" celebrates its' world premiere on 10/2021 (postponed due to Covid-19) at the ECOFeminism Short Film Festival in London, UK.
The film for her preliminary examination as well as the film for her final examination called "Twenty Years" (original: "Zwanzig Jahre") were inspired by experimental filmmaker Maya Deren.
Early in 2020, Maren became the lead singer of the rock and metal band "Back Bounce" and in addition, wrote and sang the soundtrack "My beloved Husband" for her movie "Twenty Years".
In the same year her poem "Baba" was published in the anthology "Ausgewählte Werke XXIII" of the Library of German-speaking Poems in Munich.
