Don't Rain On Our Parade: Pride50

(Runtime 9m15s, 1080P, 24fps)

As LGBTQI+ Pride in the UK approaches 50 in 2022, how did it all begin, and has Pride lost the confidence of its grass roots LGBTQI+ community?

Don't Rain On Our Parade: Pride at 50 explores the radical birth of the Pride movement in Britain and the impact of the controversial, corporate-sponsored behemoth it has become.

Groundbreaking Gay Liberation Front veterans of the 1970s recall a very different, hostile landscape. When Pride 2020 was cancelled by COVID, surviving GLF veterans took over the Pride in London Parade route, recreating the 50th Anniversary of the GLFs first UK march.

The present Pride in London provokes powerful and growing controversy in the community over its depoliticised parade promoting corporate sponsors.

In July 2021 the huge #ReclaimPride march took up the veterans' 2020 challenge, calling for a return to a Pride with sharpened political teeth. On 7th August a delayed Pride in London 2021 was finally cancelled for a second year running. Where is Pride heading at 50?
