Director Statement

In February 2019, I found a Facebook page called 'Asen Asenov – El Arte de Vivir', which means 'The Art of Living' in English. Being highly impressed by Asen Asenov’s artwork, the idea of a short documentary came to my mind.

Surprisingly, when I found his contact details and called him, he told me he was in a wheelchair because of a car accident.

While watching this film, I wanted the audience to immerse themselves in the character’s emotions. He proves the human ability to overcome any unexpected obstacles that life brings us, using the power of art. For that reason, I chose the title 'Don’t Give Up', which summarizes the main idea of my project.

When life is tough, giving up always seems like the easiest option. In my opinion, the words ‘Give’ and ‘Up’ should never be together in your mind. Life is difficult, and when you face setbacks after setbacks, problem after problem, it can get tough to stay optimistic and keep going! This documentary reminds the audience that if you are strong enough, you can get through whatever problem you are facing, you can do anything – anything is possible!
