Director Statement

The ancient art of storytelling has defined human existence since the dawn of civilization.
It’s incredible that to this day, people continue to search for innovative ways to explore the universal essence of humanity. Just like our own fingerprints, every story that has been told is unique. This is a beautiful thing.
I wish to join in the company of storytellers who came before me, in the hope of inspiring those who come after me. My goal is to write compelling tales which lead audiences into different worlds by evoking in them a realm of emotions which trigger their imaginations.
“Don’t Breathe” was written to explore a yearning many have experienced at some point in their lives; the desire to run from their past.
A young woman has recently settled into a new home searching for rebirth and a chance to forget the pain, abuse, and death which haunts her days. Yet those fears still linger. Though we see a demon in the short film, all the audience need do is stretch their mind and replace it with their own personal fear.
Ask themselves, what haunting thought chases them? Always lingering, taunting, yet never quite revealing itself. Will that fear drive them to madness? Audiences may relate to this story more than they would like.
As the Screenwriter and Director, it is my hope that this short film serves as a reminder that fear can take the reins of our imagination if we allow it, and lead our lives closer to darkness.
