Carson Knecht is an independent filmmaker from Martin, South Dakota. From 2019 to 2023, Carson is a student of Dakota State University with a Bachelor's degree in Film and a minor degree in 2D animation. During his time in college, he has done camera work for sports broadcasting and local South Dakota television. Carson is largely influenced by horror and science fiction of the 80s and 90s. His main career goal is to write and direct feature films.
What began as an impressionistic caricature of old American folklore unexpectedly turned into a pensive study on history and the morality of revenge. I draw influence from growing up around old cowboy towns in South Dakota, as well as a plethora of classic cinema of the 60s and 70s. Although my films are modern, low-budget, and photographically experimental, my main aspiration is to tell memorable stories.
I created the "Dog Eyes" story with the intention of it being just a taste of a much larger adventure saga. I cannot say for certain whether my grand perceptions fully reach the screen, but I hope the drama of my work inspires some sort of introspection in the face of a world under continuous developmental change.
