The story started as a reminder that growing up does not necessarily mean to stop being a kid. We decided to make DITAS because we’re in a time where children want to grow up as soon as possible, or think that playing only means videogames and tablets. We wanted to make tribute to our childhood so that people remembered how they used to have great adventures without so many gadgets and a lot of imagination.
We decided to tell the story with an imaginary friend thanks to our big fascination with fantastic creatures. Also, since we’re animators, this represented new challenges to take and to learn from, not to mention that this is our first Live-Action short film.
Without budget and with very little equipment, we had to bring honor to our story and use our creativity to solve the problems that we encountered. Obviously, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of all the people involved in this movie.
We did not try to bring a fantastic character into reality, instead, we tried to bring our reality to something fantastic.
