Distant
Visual poetry developed as a proof-of-concept for a short film. The story follows a character’s struggle in confronting a complicated past involving a sexual relationship with a religion teacher. His journey brings to light the dark reality of embracing one’s sexuality in the confinement of a strict religious community.

Fonnyta is a Glasgow-based Indonesian theatre director who is currently taking her Master’s at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for Classical & Contemporary Text Theatre Directing. She has directed theatre productions both in Indonesia and Glasgow. Her motivation in directing is often driven by the desire to highlight differing perspectives in the increasingly polarized Indonesian society, combat conformism, and challenge the conservative mindset. Jauh is her first foray into film directing.
