Michael Lawlor is a student filmmaker who already has years of experience making short films, movies and YouTube videos. His YouTube channel has hundreds of thousands of views with its most popular video, a 40-minute long post-apocalyptic zombie film, bringing in nearly 300k views.
As a college student, Michael has worked as a location manager, writer, director and grip. He worked as an intern with the Virginia Film Office and currently has a job in production with a Richmond-based advertising and production company.
While working long hours as a Production Assistant on a couple different series shot around Virginia, Michael has learned that he loves being on film sets. Although, he's happy working anywhere a film is being shot, his true passion is sitting in the director's chair.
My name is Michael Lawlor. I'm a Virginia Beach native with a love for the outdoors, the world around me and all the wonderful people who inhabit it. Storytelling and filmmaking are a natural outgrowth of that love. They are who I am.
My camera is simply an extension of me. It is and always has been my constant companion! I was blessed to learn early on in life that I have an inherent knack to coordinate shots, edit scenes and add sound effects and music to the beautiful world around me.
It was from there that I ventured into honing in on my craft by seeking a degree in Cinema to expand those skills to not only share what I see but to tell the stories I wanted people to see. It is a rare gift to do what you love. I cherish and nurture it every day!
