BRIEF SYNOPSIS

Sometimes daughters just want to be like Dad.

She's got the passion. She's got the grit. But she's also got something to prove - to him.

So, when Lauren Brown launches her planet saving business, with goals and ideals even loftier than her father’s, she vows to do it – and without him.

Then one multi million dollar decision puts everything at risk.

So, Lauren convinces her goliath polluting competitors that her planet saving technology is their future, and she lands the opportunity of a lifetime.

But the clock is ticking and she has but one place left to turn.

Will Lauren forgive her father or lose her dreams and environmental aspirations to the horrors of business? Those same horrors that nearly destroyed him.

Writer Biography

Laurie Brown is an optioned screenwriter who owns the life rights to award winning scripts about women who set out to change the world.

Her screenplay DISPOSABLE is her own true story of tackling the plastic pollution crisis, taking on the world's largest corporations with her patented Restore Refill Station. It was a Finalist in both the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Screenplay Awards and received Honorable Mention in the Chicago Script Awards.

In LENA & DAVID, she tells her own true story of starting the first chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, in her attempt as a college student to save her brother David from the ravages of schizophrenia.

CORPS TRUTH, a television pilot, was awarded Honorable Mention by the Santa Barbara International Screenwriting Awards, and is the story of Geri Martin, a woman who vows to become a Colonel in the Army Corp of Nurses as a way to find justice for her mother's mysterious death.

WOODY is the true story of Kim Witczak, an international advertising executive who takes on Pfizer in a wrongful death lawsuit for failure to warn of the documented and well known risk of suicide, which claimed her husband of ten years when he was prescribed Zoloft for insomnia. Woody was awarded Honorable Mention in the New York Screenwriting Awards and Quarter Finalist in the Pitch Now Screenplay Competition.

Laurie understands the hero's journey and dark night of the soul from her own life experiences, and has written inspirational dramas to tell those stories for film.

Laurie is a graduate of Macalester College and has her Master's Certificate from ScreenwritingU. She lives in Shoreview Minnesota with her wife, Linda, and enjoys cooking, entertaining, traveling and gardening, but more than anything, writing scripts.

Writer Statement

DISPOSABLE was my first script and was optioned by Ruth Coady, a successful producer, based in Dublin. The option agreement recently expired and Ms. Coady has changed her business direction, focusing solely on television series going forward.
