Seeking Short Films directed by women for a third annual night of screenings Sunday September 24 as part of the worldwide Directed by Women Celebration - bringing the global film community together for a film-viewing party appreciating an incredible diversity of films. #DirectedbyWomen: September 1-30, 2017 (http://directedbywomen.com/).
During this celebration, film lovers will gather together in their communities around the world for film screenings and guest filmmaker visits, all designed to focus attention on women film directors and their work.
Ours will take place in New York City at Ryan’s Daughter on the Upper East Side and in San Francisco at the CMTC Theatre. The event is produced in association with Custom Made Theatre (custommade.org/) by Leah Abrams (Executive Director of CMTC) and Brian Katz (Artistic Director of CMTC) - and curated by Jennifer Dean and Eric Rice who are working on a documentary celebrating the history of female filmmakers and exploring the challenges they face (the2ndSexandthe7thArt.com).
Great chance to network with other women in film and simply have fun watching movies!
We are looking for fun shorts less than 10 minutes in length. NYC and SF Bay Area locals are especially welcome since we would love a representative of the film to attend if possible and participate in a post-screenings Q&A.
Awards & Prizes
There will be no charge for admission to the screenings. The celebration is purely for the art of watching and talking about the work!
Rules & Terms
The films need to (a) be directed by women, (b) not exceed 10 minutes in length and (c) be available for screening (no exhibition conflicts of any kind).
