Director Biography - Helēna Ozola, Helmuts Bondars

Helēna Ozola was born and raised in Rīga, Latvia. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Film Editing and Audio Directing from Latvijas Kulturas Akademija National Film School. Prior to that, she attended VECC "National School of Arts" Janis Rozentals Art School, specializing in Multimedia Design.

Currently, Helēna works as a visual effects artist, primarily focusing on movies and music videos. She has collaborated with several Latvian musicians, including Tautumeitas, Samanta Tīna, Būū, Fiņķis, and Diona, creating captivating visual effects and animations.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Helēna indulges in various creative pursuits. Her main passion lies in 3D art, where she explores her artistic vision. Additionally, she enjoys painting and regularly attends ceramics classes. These activities fuel her creative flow and contribute to her ability to generate innovative ideas in her professional work.

Helēna's talent and dedication have been recognized, with her recent work as an editor on the short film "Bone-Dry" being showcased at the FiSH Film Festival in Rostock, Germany.

Having nurtured her artistic abilities since she was a little kid, Helēna's journey has evolved from drawing to painting, video art, and eventually 3D art, combining various mediums to express her creativity.

Looking ahead, Helēna aspires to continue working on fun and creative music videos, collaborating with like-minded individuals who share her artistic vision.

"Marionette" is a music video that delves into the profound theme of personal freedom and the struggle to break free from oppressive forces. Through the captivating visuals and narrative, we aimed to create an immersive experience that resonates with viewers and sparks introspection.

The vision and story were meticulously crafted by a duo of creative minds. However, it is undeniably awe-inspiring to acknowledge that, despite the perception-defying visuals that imply a collaborative effort, the intricately captivating animation stands as the remarkable outcome of just one individual's extraordinary talent and unwavering dedication.

The concept of a young girl being chased by a giant hand symbolizes the internal and external pressures that can control and confine us. The hand represents societal expectations, personal fears, or any force that seeks to restrict individuality and autonomy. By visually depicting the girl's transformation into a marionette, we wanted to convey the loss of agency and the feeling of being manipulated.

However, this music video is ultimately about resilience and the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity. We wanted to inspire viewers by showcasing the girl's unwavering determination to reclaim her freedom. Her escape from the clutches of the giant hand signifies the triumph of individuality and self-empowerment.
