Dinner At The Smyths'
Seemingly ordinary Pandora introduces her boyfriend, Tom, to her parents. All is normal until he opens the door to a minotaur and a mermaid. In the dinner from hell, Tom tries his best to win over Pandora’s dismissive, mythological parents, who despise the fact he’s ‘only’ human.

Ashley Hamilton and Bex Conygham-Hynes once spent separate creative lives in film advertising where they woke up one day and decided to become co-writer/co-director duo Ash + Bex. Having learned and honed their craft in the chaos of the ad industry, they decided to dedicate themselves to making comedy, because they feel the world needs a laugh more than ever; especially when it comes to serious issues. With this in mind, they begged, borrowed and stole to create their debut, Dinner at the Smyths’.
Dinner at the Smyths' was conceived as a way to make comedy out of navigating interracial relationships, family issues, and the trauma that comes with it; things that both of us have experienced first hand. We feel the best way to connect with audiences, and relate to them, is through laughter and recognisable moments; no matter how bizarre the set up. Twists on mundane, everyday situations are something that we are really excited about exploring further with our comedy.
