Director Statement

To most, moving to a metropolis like Mumbai is often a promise of upward mobility—pushing your boundaries and expanding your horizons.

However, for Seema, a migrant from a small state, Mumbai has turned out to be different. Not only has she been forcefully confined to an unimaginably cramped space, but she has also been robbed of the chance to look at the horizon.

When asked by her sister how her husband is treating her, she shares a romanticised tale of marital bliss, conveniently veiling the harsh truth. A romanticisation that also mimics the way immigrants talk about the city of dreams.

Dhairya Ki Seema, just like the city it is set in, is a test of patience. Living life on the edge, slipping, and pulling yourself back.
