Deviated Lives

In 1972, during the military dictatorship era, the Trans-Amazonian Highway was founded. This highway cuts through the Amazon rainforest from east to west, with the purpose of connecting the region to the rest of Brazil. After decades of neglect, it reached its 50th anniversary amid the COVID pandemic. A small film crew spent 3 months traveling over 2,000 km of the road to portray the social and intimate lives of around 20 different families living near its edges.
