Director Statement

Detour is a Visual EP that tells a love story of ease, reconcilement, and self-love.

Each song serves as a visual roadmap where we see Leila Dey, and her 'beau' on their way to an anticipated street race. It's all sunshine and smiles until unfortunately, there’s a Detour at "The Switch”.

It's then that we see the backstory to this journey and we understand that our protagonist, Leila dey, has to make some important choices to make - including choosing herself.

This project was Produced, Directed, Edited and Coloured by Me.

Leila Dey and I played with the idea of a short movie for a couple of years, but neither of us knew how we could pull it off. We had really big ideas and no financial backing, but we both believed in the overall vision.

In time, we were able to get some amazing friends to help us put this together. Sean Carson [Cinematographer] understood our vision and it translated through the camera in every moment. Overall, It was an amazing journey and I'm very proud of what we produced. I hope you enjoy our visual EP.
