Multidisciplinary Artist since 2009. She obtained a BA in Art History at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. She studied MFA studies focused on Drawing and Painting, combined with performance art at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus, which he gave up to participate in Artistic Residencies, Exhibitions and Art Festivals on the Island, the United States, Europe and Latin America. Brendamaris has presented her work at the Puerto Rico Museum of Art, Ponce Museum of Art, Performance Art Studies Residencies, Performance Art Week in the city of Venice, Italy, La Nemudejar Art Museum in Madrid, Spain and short film festivals such as Other Cinema in San Francisco, California, Cosmic Rays Film festival in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Athens International Film + Video Festival in Athens, Ohio, Ribalta Film Festival in Vignola, Italy, where it was awarded to him along with his colleague and artist John Muse received the "Arrow" award for best Director for his collaborative short film "gyroscope", and in 2023 they were awarded the jury's choice award, one of the most prestigious awards at the Thomas Edison Film Festival in New Jersey, US.
Her work as an Artist is based on a questioning of human gestures, the relationship that exists between subject and objects, and the limits between nature and artifice. Since 2011 she has directed the Visual Arts Program for the Non-Profit Organization Boys & Girls Club of Mayagüez. In addition to being an artist and educator, she has worked as a curator and cultural manager in collaboration with independent entities and projects in the area of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
HER WORK AS AN ARTIST STARTS FROM A QUESTIONING THROUGH HUMAN GESTURES, THE RELATIONSHIP THAT EXISTS BETWEEN SUBJECT AND OBJECTS, AND THE LIMITS BETWEEN NATURE AND ARTIFICE.
