RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS TO DESCUBIERTO FILM FESTIVAL 2023
The following rules and guidelines outline the requirements for submitting films to Descubierto Film Festival 2023. Compliance with these rules and guidelines is necessary for participation in the festival. By submitting a film, you acknowledge and accept these rules and guidelines. Descubierto Film Festival accepts submissions in the following categories:
Feature Films: International Fantasy, Latin American Fantasy.
Short Films (under 30 minutes): International Fantasy, Latin American Fantasy and Student.
The entrant(s) submitting the film must hold all legal rights for the submission and have obtained all necessary clearances for public exhibition.
The filmmaker(s) retain all submission and intellectual property rights.
To be eligible, your film must not have been screened in person or online in the region of La Libertad, Peru. Please contact the Descubierto Film Festival office with any questions.
Films must be submitted electronically through the official submission platform (provide the platform name and link).
The filmmaker(s) is/are responsible for ensuring that all submission materials are submitted by the indicated deadline. Failure to submit by the deadline may result in a higher submission fee or disqualification.
If a film received 50% or more of its funding from sources outside of Peru, the film may be submitted as an International Film.
Subtitles must be in Spanish.
Please ensure that screener links and passwords are up-to-date and notify Descubierto Film Festival office promptly of any changes. Test your media prior to submission to ensure they run properly and are not damaged.
Filmmakers are allowed to submit more than one film to the festival, provided that each film is submitted separately and meets Descubierto Film Festival guidelines.
Filmmakers are allowed to re-submit a film that was previously submitted, provided significant changes have been made and all eligibility requirements are met. Include a brief letter detailing the changes made when re-submitting the film.
Students submitting a film must provide a photocopy of a current and valid student ID or a letter from their school verifying enrollment.
If you would like your materials returned after the festival, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Entrants may contact Descubierto Film Festival to inquire about the status of their submission by emailing contacto@festivaldescubierto.com. Filmmakers submitting through the official submission platform can check their status on the platform's website.
The filmmaker is responsible for all inbound shipping costs, domestic or international.
All personal contact information will remain confidential and will not be shared with any third parties.
Descubierto Film Festival reserves the right to use images from selected films for marketing purposes.
All decisions regarding award winners are final and cannot be contested.
Applicants acknowledge that Descubierto Film Festival reserves the right to modify the nature of screenings and events due to circumstances related to public health and welfare or at the direction of local, regional, or national authorities. In such cases, no submission refunds shall be issued.
