Director Statement

My family’s life completely changed when we moved to the United States. We had lived in the same city in Brazil for all of our lives and suddenly we found ourselves trying to adapt to a new life in Massachusetts. Here, we discovered a big immigrant community with so many others that are also adapting to a new culture, language, new jobs and many other challenges. Despite the big presence, Brazilian immigrants still don’t receive a lot of recognition or attention from political initiatives, academic studies, and the media. My project was created out of my passion to help Brazilian immigrants. I wanted to give them a voice and let them tell their stories so others can identify with and hopefully feel less alone.
