Despite being twenty-eight years old, my filmmaking journey began when I was a child waiting to rent a movie at Blockbuster. When the TV above the counter playing Back To The Future showed the Delorean’s first test, there was a spark; I wanted to make movies of my own. As I approached the end of high school, I was told by others that filmmaking was risky, and that I should follow an alternate career path for a more stable future. This led me to enlist in the US Navy, but it did not remove my desire to make films. While enlisted, I met people from all walks of life from around the country. In meeting these fellow sailors, I learned the differences in thinking that each of us have, and would engage in long talks about why a person believes what they believe, or acts the way that they act. This inspired me to make films that focus more on the internal struggles of the characters while attending the New York Film Academy, like in Decisions Decisions, where the main character’s intrusive thoughts take center stage, and how those thoughts can affect the real world.
To illustrate that too much overthinking in a relationship can lead to decisions being made based on intrusive thoughts and not real-world evidence.
