Decibels Film Festival works to bring the mosh pit, dance party, rap battle and sing-along to your local indie theater and living room by showcasing the diversity of music subcultures found on-screen.

Inspired by San Francisco's musical heritage we look back and forward in bringing unforgettable documentaries, short films and music videos that celebrate the musicians, fans and happenings.

We are passionate about independent film and music across all genres and aren't afraid of the underground, nor pop, as long as it is creative and transformative. Great films are great films so you are as likely to see a North African remake of Purple Rain as you are a film about college radio or vintage hip hop, bluegrass or Tibetan punk rock.

The Decibels music film festival will take place in San Francisco in October and is presented by the 23 year old SF IndieFest, a 501c3 nonprofit organization and a founding member of the Film Festival Alliance.

  • Great people putting this on. I wasn't able to attend for my film ForeverMoore; The Angelo Project as we were putting on another festival but I sent Angelo and my best friend. Great experience with these guys.
