Dearest

Dearest explores the experience of a young woman who is married, isolated, and expecting her first child. She fears what’s growing inside of her, and when strange things begin happening in their home, she has to examine who she is, what her child is, and the nature of her life in order to survive.

Megan Gale is a writer, director, editor and domestic violence advocate living in Madison, Wisconsin. She has had two published novels and has written for various online publications. This is her first film.

Director Statement

Dearest is a project that is close to my heart as an expert in dysfunctional relationship dynamics. It tells a story many women will find familiar, but through a horror lens. It was important to me to complete the film with a 100% female crew, and to star a black woman in the telling of this tale - which is a story of often unspoken issues that all too many have experienced throughout history.
