Dear beasts (Care bestie)

The protagonist, Trudy, is an influencer who "showcases" the lives of pets on social networks to promote their well-being. But his love is not sincere. A video of her mistreating the homeless Narco and her dog suddenly ruins her reputation.

La protagonista, Trudy, è un'influencer che "mette in mostra" la vita degli animali domestici sui social network per promuoverne il benessere. Ma il suo amore non è sincero. Un video di lei che maltratta il senzatetto Narco e il suo cane rovina improvvisamente la sua reputazione.

Director Biography - Andrea Malandra

Andrea Malandra, born in Pescara, producer, screenwriter and photographer.
Graduated from D.A.M.S. of Bologna in Filmology.
He attends the seminars of the directors Anghelopulos and Ioseliani. In 1996 he followed the anthropologist George Lapassade's seminar for the creation of an ethnographic video. In 1998 he attended Roberto Perpignani's film editing course.
He makes various videos and films as a director and filmmaker including: 1994, Isofromatem. Contest of writing and image of the Festival of the short film Pescara '94. Selected at the Nickelodeon of Spoleto '94. 1995, Finalist Recycled peel at the Bellaria Festival '95 in section 150 "with fixed theme, reported at the Rome Biennale Visual Festival '95. 2001, Chamber Music. Special mention of the Presidency at the VIII International Short Film Festival Competition Monique Barberini, Pescara 2005, Pescara, Pescara, video made for the "Beauty Policies" event of the Municipality of Pescara.
He also makes a scenographic video for Tipical Atypical Lives, a theatrical show selected for the Ustica Award 2007.
He made the three-act film Daviding, based on Daniel Clowes' graphic novel David "David Boring".
He makes the short film Pescara 2013 - Il Tipolo D'Annunzio, a surreal film about the figure of D'Annunzio.
Then, after years, he made the film Giallo Artistico, a short film freely inspired by the comics of Andrea Pazienza.

He made the film Confessions of a Zero, a feature film based on the novel by Giovanni Di Iacovo.

Then he made the film Mani nude

As a visual artist (Digital Art / Mobile Art) he realizes the NovaPe project, a reflection of urban aesthetics on the city and on contemporary suburbs. And in 2015 he held his personal exhibition at the Vittoria Colonna Museum of Modern Art in Pescara entitled NovaPe Mobile Art - The City of Andrea Malandra.

Realizza anche un video scenografico per Tipical Atipic Lives, spettacolo teatrale selezionato per il Premio Ustica 2007.
Ha realizzato il film in tre atti Daviding, basato sulla graphic novel di Daniel Clowes, David "David Boring".
Realizza il cortometraggio Pescara 2013 - Il Tipolo D'Annunzio, un film surreale sulla figura di D'Annunzio.
Poi, dopo anni, realizza il film Giallo Artistico, un cortometraggio liberamente ispirato ai fumetti di Andrea Pazienza.
Ha realizzato il film Confessioni di uno zero, lungometraggio tratto dal romanzo di Giovanni Di Iacovo.
Poi realizza il film Mani nude
Come artista visivo (Digital Art / Mobile Art) realizza il progetto NovaPe, una riflessione dell'estetica urbana sulla città e sulle periferie contemporanee. E nel 2015 tiene la sua mostra personale al Museo d'Arte Moderna Vittoria Colonna di Pescara dal titolo NovaPe Mobile Art - La Città di Andrea Malandra.

Director Statement

Dear Beasts, this is the title of Malandra's third feature film, is an indie film, a story that is also a reflection on the theme of web interactivity and how it affects the lives of individuals, causing a loss of identity not only among people , but also towards the animal world, that is, precisely, our "dear pets". As in the tradition of many of Malandra's previous works, this feature too has the tone of a surreal comedy set in a dystopian world.

Care Bestie, questo il titolo del terzo lungometraggio di Malandra, è un film indie, una storia che è anche una riflessione sul tema dell'interattività del web e di come esso condizioni la vita degli individui determinando una perdita di identità non solo tra le persone, ma anche nei confronti del mondo animale, ovvero, appunto, le nostre “care bestie” da compagnia. Come nella tradizione di molti dei lavori precedenti di Malandra, anche questo lungometraggio ha i toni della commedia surreale dentro un mondo distopico.
