Your Hair Looks Fine
Everybody close to me, at some point, has had to reassure me that my hair looks fine. It's not solely vanity-- to quote Fleabag, "hair is everything", and whatever is on top of my head is a direct reflection of what's going on inside of it. Combining the powers of a DSLR, an iPhone mic, and some Flash animation, I wrote a letter to myself I can watch whenever I'm worried my hair looks weird-- I'm sure my mother, my boyfriend, and my sister will appreciate the break.

Ellen Lang is a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where she was active in the local comedy scene while working on a variety of films from student shorts to indie features. Her own work as a director is deeply personal, and draws on her diverse background as a comedian, actor, and journalist to deliver original stories about women's lives.
I made "Dear Ellen: Your Hair Looks Fine" in an effort to understand myself better, and maybe help others understand themselves better too. Women's focus on appearance can't be entirely attributed to vanity-- it is a powerful tool to shape your identity, in a world that still tells you how you look is who you are.
