★Fumie NISHIKAWA★
Nishikawa graduated from London College of printing in 2002. | Film director, editor and VFX | Mother of 2 children. | Her first feature-length film “Azemichi road” (2009) won the 2nd Prize in the Live Action Feature Film category at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.

★Tokio OOHARA★
Tokio Oohara is an autodidact filmmaker with an interest in woman’s social stories. Tokio belongs to this fine minority in cinema of directors who also act in their own films. Her short film Bird woman (2022) was nominated in competition at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival.

★Misako UNAKAMI★
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Oil painting course. Started shooting of 8-milimeter films while at university. After graduation, she has been gaining experience in production design and assistant producer.

★Genki YOSHIMURA★
Born in Tokyo. She is the great-grandson of actress Sumako Matsui's older brother. She married film producer Genjiro Arato, later divorced. She made her debut as a film director in 1980 in Japan, which ranks 125th in the gender gap index, and lived for more than 40 years without being recognized as a film director by society.

Director Statement

"Dear Dolls" is an omnibus of feature film by four Japanese female directors. Our challenge was to create stories about women struggling to survive using "dolls" as a motif.
