Dear Bhargava
"Dear Bhargava", a Kannada short film (2021) of approximately 16 minutes is a story of a gay son who due to the obligations of social stigma decides to move out of the country and disconnects himself from a family with the fear of disapproval of his sexuality. After few years of him staying apart comes back home due to his father’s demise. Post rituals, he happens to find a letter in his father’s closet addressed to him. The letter enfolds with the narrative of the father’s love and an explanation towards the odds of their relationship & unpleasant memories in the past. He ends the letter with the fact of his son’s sexuality that he was aware of & that he had accepted.
The idea behind this short movie is to give courage to many people who are fighting their sexuality and also to those who avoid having conversations even with their dear ones. The letter found from the father’s closet stands symbolic in helping the son to come out of his own closet.

Ramnath Shanbhag A Corporate professional, a writer by passion. He has a strong and poetic hold on the Kannada language; always been passionate about music and movies. He has worked as Lyricist for the Short film "Sharadhi", "Bhugola", "Arivillade - Music Video" and a feature film "Vajra". Along with this, he has also written multiple Promotional jingles for Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM and has worked as Content Producer for Radio roasting Show; He has also involved in Kannada literary translation.
"Dear Bhargava" happens to be his debut work as a Director.
