Dead Girl Walking

Oh ohh ohh ohhh
Oh ohhh ohh ohh
Yeah I'm a dead girl Walkin (Walkin)
Maybe it's time to face (Ooo)
That it don't really matter
Might not be my place
The less I give, the more I take
No time to worry they won't find me
I'm a dead girl walking

Money don't bring me happiness
Money don't bring me happiness
Money don't bring me happiness
I'm just here get my fill to get my thrill

Oh ohh ohh ohhh
Oh ohhh ohh ohh
Yeah I'm a free girl walkin (walkin)
Maybe it's time to face (Ooo)
That it don't really matter
Might not be my place
The less I give, the more I take
No time to worry they won't find me
I'm free girl walkin

Money don't bring me happiness
Money don't bring me happiness
Money don't bring my happiness I'm just here fill to get my
Money don't bring me happiness

When I was approached to write an original song for Apple Pie Dreams, I was inspired by the ending in which the characters realize everything they hoped for isn't going to materialize and yet, still lean into a celebration. That's how the line, "Money don't bring me happiness" was born. In the song, the narrator doesn't gain any excitement from money with the bank robbery. She's in it for the thrill of doing something out of the ordinary. However, as the characters in the film are enjoying themselves, they're also a bit adversarial in this scene. As such, I knew the song needed to feel like a confrontation-- and-- a fun time.

Special thanks to Sergio Ripa for coming in on Bass guitar, Lead guitar, and Rhythm guitar with so much creativity, and to the filmmakers for bringing me onto this project and letting me create a song they say they can't get out of their heads!
