Daylight Family is a day-in-the-life portrait of George Jackson Academy, an independent middle school for boys in New York City. Around 100 students are enrolled here from 6th to 8th grade, where they're encouraged to collaborate, speak honestly, study hard, build good habits, and prepare themselves for the road ahead.
The school was founded in 2003, and families pay what they can afford. Audio interviews are the foundation of the film's content, where students speak about their academic and personal interests, their dreams, and what they make of the world.
