David Gray is a writer in Bloomington, Indiana. He has completed 12 screenplays and 3 TV pilots. His screenplay Chelsea and Charles was produced by Silver Peak Productions and is currently being shopped (under the title Love Across Time). Two of his other screenplays have been optioned... David was also a Writer/Script Consultant with Lady With A Hat Productions.
His scripts have won the Reno-Tahoe Screenplay Contest, the Best Comedy Screenplay Award at the Houston Comedy Film Festival and garnered over 90 competition placements, including the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, a Top Ten in the Big Break Screenplay Contest and a Top 5 in the Laugh or Die Comedy Contest.
David is currently the Executive Director of the Kansas City Ballet. He previously worked at New York City Ballet and in leadership positions in organizations ranging from The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the New Brunswick Cultural Center where he was the landlord for 3 theaters.
Prior to his nonprofit work, he was a writer/bartender in New York, including 3 years at Joe Allen’s. He has written a number of books including Escape from Verona: Romeo and Juliet Part 2. Juliet’s long-lost diary explaining how she and Romeo faked their suicides and made their way to Venice.
David is married to a former New York City Ballet ballerina (now a Professor at Indiana University) and they have two sons, a chef/videographer/ editor in Los Angeles, the other a student at Whittier College which provides an excuse for David to frequently visit Los Angeles
