Daria Strachan is a film director and writer from Washington, DC. She is currently studying Film and TV Production at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA in their class of 2028.
As a Black lesbian, Daria has a deep understanding of the importance of seeing yourself represented in media and how it can affect how you view yourself and others. That is why she strives to help diversify the film industry both in front of and behind the camera.
Daria has already begun her work as many of her films have focused on women of color. For example, in 2023 she became one of ten Black women filmmakers chosen to participate in Black Girls Film Camp’s 2024 cohort. Proving her intentions in the film industry, her film, As You Are (produced by BGFC), won the “Most Impactful” award during BGFC’s premiere weekend.
Among other recognitions, Daria Strachan currently serves as a member of BGFC’s Alumni Board and is a 2024 Point Foundation NBC Universal Flagship Scholar.
