Director Statement

At a time when the focus on bitcoin in the Western world is centred around speculation and price, El Salvador is telling a very different story: one of financial inclusion, hope and potential.

While researching for this film with Executive Producer, Graham Rittener, and podcaster, John Vallis, we didn’t have to dig very deep to start discovering some alarming facts about our global financial system.

Something as trivial as access to a bank account can suddenly seem more like a ticket to a “members only” club rather than a basic right, with one in every three adults globally being left outside the front door.

Our society is now more than ever in need of some deep and urgent questioning when it comes to a range of key issues such as climate change, politics, fairness, health... and money underpins all of them.

‘Dare to Dream’ takes the viewer on a journey to El Salvador in search of how we can create a fairer world together and begins to tackle the complex questions of “what exactly is money?" and "can we have a monetary system that serves the many, not the few?"
