Since I was a kid, acting was the dream but I have zero idea how to go about it. Short of drama classes and amateur productions, I didn't know what it took - the sacrifice and the resilience to make it as an actor.
Many years on and living in a world where the only auditions I get were for tradies and mechanics, I decided it was time to create my own works.
As a gay man, I was convinced how I was presenting myself on film had to be that of a straight man otherwise I would never be hired... That was an obstacle I wanted to overcome. Now, I have written, directed and starred in my first LGBTQIA+ short film where the focus has been to showcase LGBTQIA+ talent and story.
I never thought I would go down the route of film making myself though after 2 days of directing, problem solving, pain and laughter, I can confidently say film making is now a part of me.
I am now in the process of editing my first film and with any luck on my way to showcasing not only what I am capable but what my crew and cast have been able to produce.
