I make movies to reveal, learn, inspire, and enjoy
Raised in Wolfe City, Texas, I am an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker. I wrote and produced TEXAS HEART, a crime thriller, starring John Savage and Lin Shaye, and numerous documentaries, including Emmy-nominated February One: The Story of the Greensboro Four (PBS/POV series) and Terror of the Soul: Edgar Allan Poe, starring John Heard, Rene Auberjenois, and Treat Williams (with music by Philip Glass) (PBS/American Masters series).
Most recently, I wrote/produced MR. WONDERFUL, adapted from my novel, now a feature film to be released in the spring of 2025, starring Michael Madsen (RESERVOIR DOGS; KILL BILL). I served as producer on WAKE, a psychological thriller/horror film starring Fivel Stewart (ATYPICAL; THE RECRUIT—both hit series on Netflix.
Trained at the University of Virginia where I received a Ph.D. in American history, I worked as a professor of American History at the University of Kentucky for many years. I now live in St. Louis where I work as a filmmaker and author.
