Neil began working in the film industry back in 1983 as an apprentice editor for Golden Era Productions in Los Angeles where he was fully apprenticed as a film editor and director working mainly on documentaries and industrials.
Neil then branched out in to other diverse areas such as acting, set design, writing, coaching actors and producing TV series. Neil is very accomplished in all these areas having worked as an actor in such Hollywood films as The A-Team and Watchmen as well the popular TV series Fringe among others. He has coached actors all across Canada, Kenya and Uganda with excellent results and has produced & directed over 120 episodes of TV programming in Kenya alone including Higher Learning, Saints, Rush and Twisted.
Neil is currently producing and directing a new animation series entitled Machismo about an African superhero.
This unique, quirky and fun comedy wound up growing into a feel of its own. The first two episodes were shot a few months before the last four episodes. As the writing and shooting progressed the characters also started becoming more defined and their relationships developed too. This was the first web series where I directed a full six episodes and I found it to be a great way to evolve not only the characters and story but also the overall “life” of the show. Shooting at the beginning was somewhat of a “Let’s find our way.” experience and as we approached the sixth episode it was more of “Everything is coming together like a good recipe.” Bursting out in fits of laughter on set was commonplace and creating this web series became pure joy.
