Dance For Salvation
Dance For Salvation is a true story and immersive video installation about a man navigating questions of identity and belonging between two seemingly contradictory worlds. He is part of a strict religious community, however, a few years ago he fell in love with techno music.

Video-installation | Video: 1-channel, 4K resolution | Audio: 2-channel
Visitors will enter a dark space where the installation is displayed, the space has the atmosphere of a small nightclub. The music will play through the speakers, while the voice-over will be heard through the headphones. Visitors can dance to the music or choose to put on the headphones and listen to the voice-over, adding a new layer to the story and creating an immersive experience. See PDF for more information.

I am Robin Alysha Clemens (1992), a lens-based artist from Amsterdam. My work explores questions of identity, belonging, and a sense of community. I focus on people’s daily life (the interesting and the mundane), their traditions, and the associated symbolism. Diving head-first into unknown worlds, I prefer telling stories from the fringes, from the non-conformists and overlooked.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Art at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague in 2016. I create documentary art projects and work as a freelancer for universities, newspapers, festivals and musicians. My work has been exhibited and screened at The Netherlands Film Festival, ART Rotterdam, Amsterdam Museum, Helsinki Photo Festival, Dutch Design Week, Melkweg Expo, TETEM, among others.
