Writer Statement

I believe that I write so often about the real world because I find it to be remarkably absurd. It would seem that everyday I am vexed at the ways in which we make our fellow humans suffer, how little compassion there is for those who are only slightly different from ourselves.

When writing a piece, I am adamant about doing research and speaking with people who have lived through the very experiences I wish to examine. Realistic fiction is such a unique genre in that respect: having the ability to insert your own ideas, but also ensuring that the characters and demographic they fall under are properly represented, true to life if you will; that's the challenge of this genre yet also what makes it so exciting.

My writing is riddled with hardship in myriad form. Yet hardship gives way to hope, and while my endings may not always be the happiest, they do end in such a way that leaves the audience knowing there is a possibility for change in these characters lives, that there is hope for something better than right now.
