Daddy
Single father, Nelson, wakes up to his worst nightmare. His daughter Adriana was preyed upon by some not-so-scary-looking monsters online, and snatched into the dark underworld of human trafficking. After 12 days, the meaning of the word “Daddy” begins to blur for Adriana. Can she distinguish between the one who has her heart, and the one who hacked her mind?

Sonia DuPree is Executive Director of END IT! (or “Everybody’s Not Doing It!”) based in Fort Pierce, FL. END IT! is a grassroots non-profit 501c3 organization started by Sonia and her husband Strather, in 2010. The DuPrees designed END IT! to provide pre-teens and teens with alternatives to negative peer and media pressures, a positive peer environment, and a platform to reach other teens. The platform that is used is the performing arts, infused with preventative education, character building, social-emotional learning, and life skills. Teens in the program are first educated on a topic using research, subject matter experts, or field trips; then they become a vital part of both the solution and the creation process. The strength of the END IT! performing arts team is the partnership formed with the youth to build relevant, timely original artistic presentations. Throughout the year, END IT! offers after-school and summer arts programming for middle and high school students, including homework assistance, tutoring, acting, dancing, singing, graphic design, visual arts, and music. Besides hosting its own events, END IT! has presented at local churches, schools, businesses, governmental agencies; as well as toured to events for the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and Tykes and Teens (Stuart, FL). To date, END IT! teens and young adults have used their platform to educate and bring awareness to thousands of youth and the community on important topics - such as bullying, drugs and alcohol, child sex trafficking, teen dating abuse, and more. “Daddy” was first written and performed as a stage play to sold-out audiences across the Treasure Coast and Broward County in Florida. Now to reach a wider audience of parents and teens about the snares and pitfalls used by traffickers, Sonia has converted “Daddy” to a screenplay. It is Sonia and the team’s first film.
