Lese Skidmore is an Anishinabe and Canadian/German filmmaker and a member of Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation in Manitoba. Social justice, Indigenous history, culture and rights are at the heart of her films. Lese started her career as a writer, camera operator and editor at APTN’s Saturday Night @ Rising Sun Café. In more recent years Lese works for BearPaw Media Productions and has directed and produced numerous documentaries, docu-drama and animations. Her film Moving Forward was nominated at the American Indian Film Festival for Best Public Service in 2014 and at the Yorkton Film Festival for the Youth category in 2014. In 2014, Lese, and her co-producers/co-writers, won Best Comedy for Just Cause 2 at the Alberta Film and Television Awards.
