Chriselle is currently working on adapting the novel, "Skin" by the late author, Margaret Mascarenhas, a dark drama based on true past historic events blended with mythology from India and Africa. After her grandmother's stroke, Pagan, an American journalist and cross cultural hybrid, flies to Goa, India. As Pagan digs into her family history, she discovers, to her horror, that her ancestors made their fortune in the African slave trade. After centuries of these disturbing facts lying buried, Pagan uncovers her true identity AND the secrets of her heritage that lie under her skin. An engrossing tapestry of diasporic tales by women, spanning three continents and several generations, Skin ultimately tells the story of the magical bond between Mothers and Daughters.
As an actor of Indian- American decent, I was dissatisfied with the roles available for women of color even today. Therefore, with the goal of creating more content of better quality for artists that look like me, I started writing and producing with the goal of showcasing my own work, as well as encourage diversity and inclusion with others.
